Johannesburg – Police are hot on the trail of escaped prisoner Henry Edema Timaya Onoh, also known as Spiderman, who escaped from Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Services, police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said Onoh is a dangerous prisoner who escaped on December 3 has been convicted for serious crimes including rape, house robberies, housebreaking and theft.

The Nigerian national escaped two days before he was due to be sentenced in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.

"Police are appealing to anyone who may have information to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111. The prisoner is considered to be armed and dangerous," said Dlamini.

"It is suspected that the Nigerian prisoner might have fled to other provinces. He has been linked to other serious crimes to as far away as Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal."

Anyone with information may also contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Louis Hoffman of the Pretoria Moot police station at 083 650 0820 at all hours.

Information that may lead to the arrest of the escapee may be rewarded.
