Pretoria - The wife of a Randburg man accused of filming his 15-year-old stepdaughter with a camera disguised as a keyring in the bathroom of their home could face charges alongside her husband in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

The man, 34, faces preliminary charges of sexual grooming and of using children for pornography.

If his wife is implicated in the crime, she may too be arrested, said prosecutor Heinrich Scholtz.

The man appeared in court on Wednesday where the matter was postponed to March 26 to give him time to consult with his defence.

It is believed the man placed a bunch of keys with a small camera in the keyring, in the bathroom.

Initial reports were that it was the girl’s mother who reported the matter to the police.

Magistrate Graham Travers laid down conditions on which the man may see his wife’s other two children, and the one-year-old child he has with her.

The man is not allowed to see his eldest stepdaugther but has been allowed to see the other three children because they are not currently witnesses in the case. He may not visit his stepdaughter’s school.

The man said he has to help his wife take the children to school even though he no longer lives with them.

“My relationship with the children is very strong. They consider me their father,” he told the court.
