Cape Town - A young father has been murdered, allegedly by the stepfather of his estranged girlfriend, following an argument.

The 48-year-old suspect is expected to appear at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court this week on a charge of murder after handing himself in.

Relatives say dad of three Nadeem Ismail, 27, was stabbed to death in the doorway of his home in Blikkiesdorp, Delft, on Sunday night.

Police say the dad - who has three little girls aged six years old, six months old and seven months old - was stabbed in the chest.

Witnesses claim Nadeem had an argument with his 22-year-old ex Tammy-Lee Cupido’s stepfather.

The older man came chasing after him as he ran away and then allegedly stabbed him.

The suspect then ran to the Delft Police Station where he handed himself over to police.

On Monday, Nadeem’s distraught relatives were preparing for his janaazah.

His aunt Galiema Albertyn, 46, says the trouble began when he recently threw Tammy-Lee out of his house in Blikkies.

“On Sunday there was an argument when his ex’s stepfather came here. We do not know what the argument was about,” Galiema says.

Another aunt Jasmine Sprinkle says they want justice for her nephew.

Tammy-Lee confirmed her stepfather was arrested, but wouldn’t say what the fight was about.

“(Nadeem and I) lived together and then we broke up and we had a baby who is six months old and we were living together again,” she says.

“The incident happened (on Sunday) but it’s too much for me to speak about, my stepfather is the accused.”

Captain FC Van Wyk, says a case of murder has been opened.

“The suspect was arrested and faces a charge of murder. He is due to appear in court soon,” he says.
