A 25-year-old man accused of raping two students at the University of Limpopo appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, police said.

The matter was postponed to March 05, 2012 for further investigation and a bail application, Constable Moses Molepo said in a statement.

He faces two counts of rape and a charge of possessing an unlicensed firearm. He allegedly forced his way into the women's rooms, raped them, and stole their belongings.

The man was arrested on December 21, 2010, after DNA testing linked him to the two crimes. He was also identified by the women at the time. He failed to appear in court and a warrant of arrest was issued. He was arrested on Tuesday. - Sapa
