Pretoria - A Supersport United soccer player arrested for resisting arrest and refusing to identify himself has been named as Enocent Mkhabela on the club’s website.

Mkhabela was arrested on Sunday night and is due to appear in the Hatfield Magistrate’s Court after being released on a warning.

Metro police said Mkhabela was arrested after an incident sparked by the player’s driving straight in a turn-only lane in Hatfield, endangering other drivers.

He apparently refused to stop when asked to do so by an officer. A chase ensued. After being cornered, he allegedly refused to produce his driving licence or to get out of the car.
