Cape Town - One of the men accused of murdering Bronx nightclub owner Bruno Bronn in February was rearrested at the weekend for contravening his bail conditions.

A joint operation between the SAPS and metro police’s tactical response and substance abuse units led to the arrest in Maitland on Saturday.

Metro police deputy chief Yolanda Faro said police had acted on a tip-off that the man, whose name is being withheld, had been spotted in the area. It was a contravention of his bail conditions to be in Maitland.

Police swooped on a house, arrested the suspect and found the keys to a black VW Polo, which was parked outside, in his possession.

In the car police found an unlicensed pistol and six rounds of ammunition. The gun will be sent for ballistics testing.

Faro said the owner of the vehicle provided a statement saying the suspect had used the car without consent.

Bronn was found dead in his Green Point home in February. He had been strangled.
