Johannesburg - A 29-year-old suspect was expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday in connection with three murders in the area.

This included the murder of RE/MAX estate agent Hanle Lategan, 52, who was found dead in a stretch of veld in Randfontein on Tuesday last week.

The man was arrested on Saturday following her murder and the murder of two insurance brokers, said police spokesman Captain Appel Ernst.

Lategan’s body was recovered a day after she was supposed to show clients a house.

Her death sparked concern in the property industry, with estate agents saying they would implement measures like taking prospective buyers through thorough vetting processes before an appointment.

Agents said last week potential clients may be expected to provide a letter of pre-approval from the bank as assurance that they were genuine buyers.

Like Lategan, Anthony Scholefield, 64, and Kevin McAlpine, 29, were found in the boots of their cars last month. They too had appointments with clients when they went missing.
