Durban - A suspect was killed during an armed robbery at a jewellery store at the Reservoir Hills Mall on Tuesday.
It is alleged that a gang of armed men entered the store and fired shots at the owner who fired back. Police at the scene said one suspect was fatally wounded.
Russel Meiring of ER24 said paramedics were lead into a shop, where they found the body of a man, believed to be one of the suspects, lying behind one of the counters.

"Upon assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and was in a critical condition.
ER24 paramedics treated the man and initiated advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, after approximately 20 minutes, the man succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene," he said.

A second suspect was also shot but managed to flee. At least 20 bullet casings were found at the scene.
The suspects managed to make off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery. Police are investigating further.
