Suspect nabbed with drugs worth R10 000

Bloemfontein - A man was arrested in the Bloemfontein CBD for the possession of 70 packets of Cat powder valued at R10,000, police reported on Friday.

Police spokesperson Constable Wendy Nkabi said: “Acting on a tip­off, members of Parkweg K9 unit followed up information about a suspicious looking man suspected to be involved in dealing with drugs in the Central Business District of Bloemfontein.”

Nkabi said the man was spotted waiting in a white WV polo.

“When [he had] been apprehended and searched, the K9 police found a travel bag with 70 small packets containing Cat powder,” Nkabi said.

The man was immediately arrested and taken to Parkweg Police Station.

“The confiscated Cat powder (drugs) was estimated at a street value of R10 000. A cash amount of R620 that was found in his possession was also confiscated.”

The arrested suspect, aged 34, was expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday June 1 on charges of dealing in drugs.
