A high school teacher has been arrested for allegedly raping 11 pupils in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, police said on Thursday.
Constable Timothy Masilela said the 46-year-old teacher was arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
He said pupils were being taught about abuse, including sexual abuse, when one of them told the principal that she had been raped by a teacher.
Masilela said more pupils then approached the principal and a case was opened against the teacher.
The Grade 11 teacher would allegedly tell students to stay behind after class so he could help them with their homework.
Masilela said that in some of the cases there were witnesses.
The teacher was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court on Thursday. - Sapa
