Johannesburg - A 14-year-old boy accused of hacking family members to death appeared in the Daveyton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.
The matter was postponed to September 26 for further investigation and for a post mortem report to be finalised, said spokesman Medupe Simasiku.
The teenager allegedly used an axe to kill his mother, 42, and two siblings, aged seven and three-months-old, on May 24 at Etwatwa on the East Rand.
His grandmother was injured in the attack and admitted to the Far East Rand Hospital, where she died on July 5.
The teenager's two other siblings, aged eight and nine, escaped and alerted neighbours.
He fled the scene, but was later arrested and charged.
