Butterworth, Eastern Cape - Three teenagers were arrested after being linked to the murder of a 56-year-old man in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

The three, two aged 15 and another 17, were arrested at Mangweni in Zangwa Village shortly after a man who was stabbed several times died en route to hospital on Saturday morning, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

“A villager who was going to work found the man bleeding profusely on Saturday morning,” said Manatha.

He was rushed to Butterworth hospital in a private car, but died on the way. The man had several stab wounds on his upper body.

Investigations led to the arrests of the three. They were later released into the custody of their parents.

They would appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Monday to face a charge of murder.
