Five 14-year-old high school pupils were arrested in Lenasia South for allegedly owning a dagga plantation.
Five 14-year-old high school pupils were arrested on Tuesday in Lenasia South for allegedly owning a dagga plantation and dealing in the drug, Gauteng police said.
The eight square metre plantation was discovered when a boy reported to the police after smelling dagga in the area, Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.
After being questioned, the boy led the police to the plantation where they found the four boys and arrested them.
“Some of the dagga plants were already picked up and dried. More schoolboys might have been involved.
“It is suspected that they were smoking it and a possibility that they were also selling it to other school children may not be ruled out,” Dlamini said.
The boys would be released to their parents. - Sapa

Darn...there goes my regular dope distribution channel :) Jokes aside, at least the police DID something about this, everyone. Action beats inaction every time where crime is concerned. The cops were doing their jobs, not wasting time. Drug abuse is serious, I think we can all agree, and nipping it in the bud can only be a good thing.

Jokes aside - 30% pass-rate problem, people. I'm sure a majority of us have used it before, but there is a serious schooling issue at play here. This, along with the SOCCER FIELD OF DAGGA growing at a school recently isn't going to help. And i bet most of you complain about bad schooling, bad government, and bad socio-economic issues in SA.

Wow. We must congratulate the SAP with this fantastic breakthrough in stopping a major drug syndicate. I feel safer already.

This is a plantation, just as two firearms and a few bullets are an arms cache! Maybe the cops should focus on serious stuff, but then maybe their success rate won't be so great.

Must be a bad crop, to get decent weed you need the females to flower without any males nearby and you need at least 12 hours a darkness, otherwise you will just be growing crappy leaves, yuk. Its semmer in SA at the moment so way more than 12 hours light Decent dope does not have any seeds in it either and I never ever bought any dagga in SA without seeds. And people say SA dagga is some of the best in the world !!! Absolute nonsense. More like worst in the world !!! you should try what we grow in our greenhouses hehehe.

We have 45 murders per day in South Africa. Why are the police wasting their time on this? And why is it headline news? Sure, it is illegal, and I would never buy from someone that age or encourage it, but lets not get too excited about this "plantation".

They are just carrying on where their parents left off - expanding the business. It beats working or studying, who needs school if you can get as much money as you want by planting cash crops? Let's call them young entrepreneurs, and make a block booking in prison for them, they will be there sooner rather than later.
