Three men wanted in connection with the rape of a 31-year-old woman have been arrested in Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said the gang-rape happened on June 6, and the men were arrested on Wednesday.

“Three suspects between the ages of 20 and 30 allegedly accosted the woman at gunpoint and took turns raping her in Nhlalenhle, Greytown. They were arrested in the town's old taxi rank.

“One of them was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm suspected to have been used in the rape.”

Police would run ballistic tests to determine if the firearm had been used in other crimes. The men would face charges of rape and illegal possession of a firearm when they appeared in the Greytown Magistrate's Court. – Sapa
