Mthatha - Three men were arrested on Monday for allegedly shooting dead a 16-year-old youth in the Ngxoki administrative area, near Mthatha, said Eastern Cape police.

The men, one aged 23 and two aged 25, allegedly shot the teenager on Friday, said Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela.

Four firearms, including an AK-47 assault rifle with 15 rounds of ammunition, two nine millimetre pistols, one with seven rounds of ammunition and one with eight rounds of ammunition, and a shotgun with four rounds of ammunition, were seized.

“More arrests and recoveries are imminent,” Fatyela said.

The motive for the shooting was not known.
