Johannesburg - Three men arrested in connection to an attempted cash-in-transit heist in Ogies, Mpumalanga, have been released, the Hawks said on Saturday.
“(They) were released as they could not be linked to the case,” Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.
They were part of a group of six who were arrested on Wednesday.
The three other suspects appeared in the Ogies Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The case against Billy Malope, Thabane Twala and Lebogang Maroele was postponed to February 25 for their bail application.
They face charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of stolen property as well as armed robbery.
The group was arrested after the Hawks received information of the planned heist.
The men cornered and disarmed SBV security guards and were about to make off with an undisclosed amount of money when members of the Hawks tactical unit arrived.
“A network jammer, two vehicles, the stolen money, and a firearm have been recovered,” Mulaudzi said.
He said one of those arrested was linked to four other serious cases, including truck hijacking and armed robbery.
