Cape Town - Two men were were shot dead while sitting in a car in Bridgetown, Athlone, on Tuesday night. A man was killed and another two injured in a shooting on the corner of Paulsberg and Kilimanjaro streets in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.

Both shootings were the the latest in a series as rampant gang violence on the Cape Flats continues.

Bystanders identified the two men shot in Bridgetown as Aslam Kamieldien and Abdul Marcus. Police put the men’s ages at 20 and 22.

A bystander, who refused to be named, speculated that the victims’ families were involved with the anti-drug group Pagad.

Pagad spokesman Cassiem Parker could not confirm any link between the men and the organisation this morning.

However, he said community members in Tafelsig, who be- moan the failure of government and police in bringing gangsterism under control, recently approached Pagad for help.
