Three drug busts at OR Tambo airport

Johannesburg - Three people have been arrested for drug possession at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg in the last few days, police said on Tuesday.

In the latest arrest, on Monday, a Colombian man, 34, was found in possession of cocaine worth more than R770 000, said Colonel Tummi Shai.

The drug was hidden in his jackets and shoes. The man was expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on a charge of drug possession on Wednesday.

On Saturday, a 47-year-old man who had just landed from Argentina was found in possession of 1480g of cocaine. He was arrested and appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Monday. The matter was postponed to January 28.

An Angolan man, 28, was arrested on Sunday after arriving from Brazil with 2460g of cocaine in the lining of his jackets and shoes. He also appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Monday, where his case was postponed to March 29. - Sapa
