Klerksdorp - North West police arrested three people and seized ecstacy tablets with a street value of more than R1 million on Tuesday.
“The police were working on a tip-off received on drugs trafficked from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to South Africa,” said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane in a statement.
“According to the information, suspects send the drugs (via) post. The post would then be collected and handed over to the drug dealers.”
The police followed two women, both aged 35, from the Klerksdorp Post Office who handed over a registered mail to a man waiting at a car outside.
“Police searched the vehicle and found boxes and a red suitcase inside the box with woman's clothes. At the bottom of the suitcase, police found... 12 050 tablets with a street value of R 1.205 million,” said Ngubane.
The two women and the man, 31, were expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. - Sapa
