Johannesburg - Three men were arrested on Friday after police found stolen beer worth R200 000 in their possession, Gauteng police said.
Lieutenant-Colonel Katlego Mogale said the men, aged 18, 25, and 28, were arrested after police searched premises in Hillbrow where stolen beer was allegedly unloaded from a hijacked truck on Thursday night.
“Police found three men at the premises as well as the stolen beer,” Mogale said.
She said a truck transporting beer was hijacked on Thursday night by three men who allegedly tied up the crew of the truck before bundling them into the back of the truck.
“The three men then drove to the premises in Hillbrow where they forced the tied up crew to drink while they unloaded the beer.”
Mogale said the truck and the crew were later abandoned in Jeppe.
“Police are still searching for the three men who hijacked the truck.”
The three arrested men were expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate's Court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen property. - Sapa
