Johannesburg - Three people have been arrested in Limpopo for petrol card fraud involving R38 800, provincial police said on Thursday.

They were arrested on Wednesday afternoon in Jane Furse village in the Ga-Sekhukhune region, Constable Thapelo Lesufi said.

They allegedly defrauded a building materials supplier by using a petrol card that had been lost since May last year.

“It is alleged that one of the suspects is the driver of the truck used to refill with diesel at different filling stations using the lost petrol card,” Lesufi said.

He said the transactions were conducted before the company could block the card. One of the three arrested worked as a cashier for the company.

It conducted its own investigation and filed a complaint with the police on suspecting that one of its employees was involved.

Lesufi said the three would appear in the Nebo Magistrate's Court on Friday. - Sapa
