Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal -

Three people were arrested when more than 500kg of dagga was found in their bakkie on the N2 near Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said patrolling police pulled over the bakkie and searched it at 1.30am on Saturday morning.

“ 1/8Police 3/8 found empty beer crates loaded at the back of the bakkie and the members thought it was strange that they were conveying empty beer crates and decided to conduct a thorough search of the vehicle.

“Under the crates, the members found 11 mealie meal bags full of dagga with an estimated street value of R2 million.”

The men, aged between 16 and 45, would appear in the Mtubatuba Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
