THREE TO APPEAR FOR KZN KILLINGS

Three men accused of murders in Mountain Rise will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court later on Wednesday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Colonel Jay Naicker said two 22-year-old men were arrested following 20-year-old Shwikata Juma's murder in Cinderella Park, Eastwood.

Juma's body was found with stab wounds to the neck on a road. He was walking home with his uncle shortly before 11pm on Saturday when seven men stopped them and demanded cigarettes.

"On hearing that they did not have cigarettes, they drew out knives and attacked the deceased and his uncle."

It was unclear what happened to the uncle.

On Sunday morning, police were informed of a woman's murder in Woodview Road. They tracked down a 31-year-old man who had recently been released from prison and took him back to his home.

"On opening the door, police found the body of the suspect’s girlfriend Mathembi Ngcobo, 32, on the bedroom floor," Naicker said.

She had bruises on her body and several head injuries.
