Bloemfontein – Three men, aged between 27 and 29, are expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court for possession of suspected stolen property, police said in a statement on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Constable Peter Kareli said a robbery at a storage company happened just after midnight on Christmas Day.

"A security guard on duty at a storage company was sitting in the guard room when three unknown males pounced on him," Kareli said.

"One of the suspects was allegedly armed with a firearm. The suspects overpowered him, took keys to the storage containers and stole construction equipment before fleeing the scene."

The security guard was found by his colleague the following morning when he was reporting for duty.

"On the 28 December 2016 at about 12:30, Flying Squad members received information about a dilapidated house in Lovedale that was housing stolen goods," Kareli said.

On arrival at the house, police found three men sorting through the stolen goods and arrested them.
