Uitenhage - Three men were arrested for robbing a clothing shop in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

“Five men entered a clothing store at around 2pm and pointed a knife at the security guard,” said Warrant Officer Gerda Swart.

“They randomly took clothing from the shelves. The suspects ran out with the clothing towards the taxi rank in Durban Street,” she said.

Police were patrolling the street at the time and started chasing the men.

“Two police members from Uitenhage and two from Kamesh arrested the three suspects aged 29, 30, and 31, and recovered stolen clothing worth R3000,” said Swart.

They would appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Swart said the search for the two other robbers was continuing and police were confident an arrest would be made soon. - Sapax
