Three men convicted of raping a woman in Ulundi were sentenced to life imprisonment by the High Court in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
“They were (each) sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, 15 years each for house breaking and five years each for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm,” Lt-Col Vincent Mdunge said.
Tholumusa Nhlakanipho Biyela, 20, Mazwi Magidi Mdluli, 21, and Sabelo Patric Tholisano, 23, broke into the 42-year-old woman's house on October 31 last year.
“They demanded cash (and) when she told them she did not have money, Biyela pushed her to the bed and raped her. The other two... also raped her.”
The men stabbed her twice and left.
