Johannesburg - A Naboomspruit farm manager was arrested on Thursday after he was found in possession of three rhino horns, four elephant tusks and illegal firearms, Limpopo police said.
“He said he found the three rhino horns and four elephant tusks in a safe on the estate a long time ago,” said Colonel Ronel Otto.
However, he could not provide evidence or permits that allowed him to possess the items, nor had he applied for permits, Otto said.
Otto added that DNA tests were being conducted to determine the origins of the horns and tusks and ballistics tests were being done on the illegal firearms.
The 54-year-old man would appear in court soon. - Sapa
