Cape Town – A 55-year-old man has been arrested in Worcester for possession of a large quantity of drugs, Western Cape police said on Saturday.

“Once again co-operation between the SA Police Service and the community resulted in preventing drugs, which are killing our people, from being sold on the streets,” Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.

A swift response by police in Worcester following up information about drug-related activities at a house in Zwelethemba in the town led to the arrest of the man early on Saturday morning.

Police confiscated an assortment of drugs, including 24 straws of tik (crystal methamphetamine), 307 Mandrax tablets, and dagga parcels with an estimated street value of R17 000.

The man would appear in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges related to the possession of drugs.

“A big thank you to the community members of Worcester for joining the SAPS in the fight against crime,” Rwexana said.
