Johannesburg – Three suspected drug dealers were bust in Mitchells Plain, Western Cape, with a large quantity of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of half a million rand, police said on Wednesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said the suspects were arrested in Lentegeur on Tuesday night.

"Last night members of the Mitchells Plain Tactical Response Team reacted on a tip-off from the community and conducted a search operation at a residence in Kreupelhout Street Lentegeur, where they discovered a large quantity of mandrax with an estimated street value of R475 000," said Traut.

"Three male suspects aged 36, 42 and 43 were arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs and once they have been charged, they are due to make a court appearance in Mitchells Plain.

"We are pleased with the outcome of our operation and extremely grateful for the assistance we receive from the local communities to eradicate the scourge of crime in the province."
