Suspended Major General Solly Lazarus and Colonel Hein Barnard appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, the Hawks said.

The two face charges of theft, fraud and corruption related to a secret crime intelligence slush fund, Captain Paul Ramaloko said.

They are accused of benefiting by about R1.1 million. They were arrested on Tuesday morning. Further details were not immediately available. - Sapa
