Thulamela - A 48-year-old senior traffic official at the Thulamela municipality was arrested on Monday for alleged fraud, Limpopo police said.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the man was arrested by the Hawks after being linked to 1640 charges of fraud, 820 of issuing fraudulent drivers licences and 820 of contravening the National Traffic Act.

He said this followed police investigations dating back to 2002.

“His arrest came with a recommendation from the office of the Auditor General. He will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court soon.” - Sapa
