Bloemfontein - The case of three people accused of robbing and killing an elderly couple on their Free State farm was postponed by the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, the National Prosecuting Authority said.

Fana Hendrik Ntshedi, 20, Jacobus Motsamai Bitterbos, 25, and Jackie Louw, 21, had their case postponed to February 5, spokesman Phaladi Shuping said.

They are expected to apply for bail at their next appearance.

They were arrested last Monday following the murders of Toon, 70, and Rienie Swanepoel, 72, on their farm in Bainsvlei, on Sunday, January 11.

Netwerk24.com reported that their bodies were found on a farm in Waaikraal, about 3km from their home. They were shot with their own firearm. Two of their alleged killers were caught driving the couple's bakkie. Blood-soaked rags were found in the back. The third man was arrested at his mother's home in Kelly's View.

Police spokesman Captain Harry Nagel said at the time that a television set, firearms and vehicle were stolen, and subsequently recovered.
