Three men were jailed by the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Friday for the murder of a Plettenberg Bay restaurant manager, Western Cape police said.
Mzwandile Diamond was sentenced to life and an additional 29 years behind bars, Captain Malcolm Pojie said in a statement.
Sibongile Matebese was sentenced to 28 years, and Mvimbe Dube got a life sentence and 22 years in jail.
They shot and killed Beverley Sapire, manager of the Lookout restaurant in Plettenberg Bay, around 10.30pm on April 21, 2010. One of them shot at, but missed, a security guard. They fled without taking anything. They were arrested in the Eastern Cape.
They were also convicted of robbing Wybo's restaurant in Keurboomstrand around 7.30am on March 31 the same year. They took money, jewellery and cellphones after they tied up the manager and his workers.
The Knysna-Plett Herald reported that Dube tried to escape from court on Friday morning while in ankle chains and handcuffs. He made it around the corner in the passage outside Court C before he was taken back to the cells. - Sapa
