Pretoria - Two City of Tshwane officials were arrested for corruption on Friday, said the Hawks.

Captain Paul Ramaloko said one of them was an administration officer and the other was an electricity sub-contractor.

“This comes after the duo solicited R400 000 in return for clearing a Pretoria businessman's R1.3 million electricity debt,” said Ramaloko.

The Hawks were alerted and the two were arrested minutes after the man gave them R120 000 in cash.

Ramaloko said they would spend the long weekend behind bars.

They were expected to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday.
