Rustenburg – Two men were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen solar panels worth R9 000 at Schaumburg informal settlement near Brits, North West police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the two suspects aged 22 and 28 years were arrested on Wednesday by the Hartbeespoort Dam police.

The Mozambique nationals were arrested after community members informed the police about two suspicious men seen carrying solar panels around the informal settlement.

“The police responded swiftly and arrested the pair.”

Mokgwabone said solar panels were linked to a theft case at Remhoogte, a few kilometres away from Schaumburg informal settlement.

The pair are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Friday. They will face charges of possessing suspected stolen goods.
