Rustenburg - Two men were arrested for attempted murder and the illegal possession of a firearm in Potchefstroom, North West police said on Tuesday.
Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the pair was arrested on Monday in Promosa and Mohadin respectively.
He said the police were on routine patrol when they searched the men along Promosa road.
“The police were still searching one of the suspects when the other ran away and a chase ensued. It is alleged that one of the suspects fired a shot. Back-up was mobilised which led to apprehension of one of the suspects who was found in possession of a firearm. The second suspect was arrested at Mohadin.”
He said a preliminary investigations linked both men to a case of house robbery that happened at the beginning of this month in Potchefstroom.
They were expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
