Kimberley – A man and a woman have been arrested for murder following alleged arguments in two separate cases, Northern Cape police said on Sunday.

Police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 41-year-old man on Saturday, Major Dimakatso Mooi said.

“The incident was reportedly committed on Saturday at about [5.30pm] at Sunrise, [De Aar]. It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim after a heated argument.”

The victim was certified dead at a local hospital and the suspect was arrested later the same day. The man was expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court soon.

In a separate incident, police in Groblershoop arrested a 22-year-old woman in connection with the murder of a 30-year-old woman, Mooi said.

“It is alleged that on Saturday at about [2pm] the two were involved in a fight when the suspect stabbed the deceased. The deceased died in hospital and the suspect was arrested.”

The woman would appear in the Groblershoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Mooi said.
