Durban - The bodies of two men, apparently shot dead, were discovered locked in a car on the M13 west on-ramp at the base of Fields Hill near the Pinetown CBD on Thursday morning.

ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring, said the two men were in their 30s.

“Crews were on their way to their local base when they noticed law enforcement officials standing near a light motor vehicle on the side of the road.

Officials flagged down the paramedics to assist on scene.”

He said the two men could be seen lying in the front of the car surrounded by large pools of blood.

They had been shot.

When the Daily News arrived on the scene, the bodies had not been removed.

Pinetown police, police search and rescue, KZN EMS, ER24 as well as private security were on scene.

Police were allowing traffic through intermittently as they photographed the surrounding area.

The road was totally closed off after some time as forensic crime scene investigators started working on the vehicle.

Police allowed two men to approach the car. They peered into the tinted windows of the white VW Polo.

Shading his eyes with his hands, a man in a pink T-shirt looked in quickly, nodded and put his hands on his head as he walked away, visibly disturbed. The other man also looked in and burst into tears.

Crime scene investigators then suited up to work on the scene. They dusted the driver’s door and window for prints before opening it.

A crime scene photographer worked first before the right back door was opened – setting off the alarm.

With the hazard lights flashing and car hooter blaring for some time before they were switched off from the bonnet, motorists travelling along the M13 stopped to see what was happening.
