Johannesburg - Two men died and two others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a road sign on the Soweto highway, Johannesburg metro police said on Monday.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the driver of a black Ford Focus lost control on the highway and crashed into a concrete pillar of a road sign about 3.30am on Monday.

“The driver and the passenger who was in the front seat died instantly. The two other passengers who were on the rear seat suffered injuries and were taken to the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital,” Minnaar said.

Metro police later discovered that the Ford Focus had been stolen in Roodepoort last month.
