Two men were arrested after a failed robbery attempt at a petrol station in Bloemfontein, police said on Monday.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Zweli Mohobeleli said shots were fired at a security company van, which was about to stop and deliver cash at a petrol station on Dr Belcher Road at 9am on Monday.

A police patrol vehicle in the area saw the incident and rushed to the aid of the security company personnel.

Mohobeleli said two men, aged between 25 and 35 years, were arrested at the scene. Police were still looking for more robbers. No cash was taken.

Mohobeleli said the two men arrested at the scene would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon. – Sapa
