Pretoria - Police have arrested two men in connection with the rape of two Pretoria women - one of whom was pregnant - at a lodge in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, last month.
Police on Wednesday said the suspects, who were arrested last Thursday, had confessed to raping and robbing the women. They also confessed to two other robberies in the area, but denied involvement in the robbery at Aan de Vlet Resort, where a group of pupils and teachers from a Centurion primary school were held at gunpoint.
However, police spokesman Brigadier Selby Mohlala said there was a possibility that one of the suspects could be linked to the robbery.
The two suspects, aged 28 and 29, were arrested soon after they allegedly robbed a guest house in Hazyview on Thursday last week.
“They stole an iPad and laptop and other valuables. We embarked on an extensive search for them using the signal from the iPad. We arrested one of the suspects close to the Mariti village and then information led us to the second suspect, who was hiding nearby.”
The pair are to reappear in court today.
