Johannesburg - Two men were arrested in Ongoye, Empangeni, in connection with the hijacking and murder of a woman on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
School teacher Velephi Biyela, 45, was on her way to work in Ntambanana when she was hijacked by two men, said Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge.
The men forced her out of her Hyundai van and one of them shot her in the chest before they fled.
A passerby found Biyela lying in the road and rushed her to the Ngwelezane hospital, said Mdunge.
She was declared dead on arrival.
Mdunge said the two men, aged between 21 and 25, would be charged with murder, hijacking and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The firearm was confiscated and Biyela's vehicle was recovered.
The men will appear in the Ngwelezane Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
