Two of the four men thought to be behind the killing of a customer at the Sunninghill Builders Warehouse on Wednesday have been arrested, Johannesburg police said.
Captain Kym Cloete said one was found in the Paulshof area, not far from the crime scene, while the other was located in Berea, near Hillbrow.
Two other men were still sought.
The customer was shot dead just after 6am in a botched armed robbery at the shop in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Massmart - which owns Builders Warehouse - said it appeared that the robbers tried to hijack the customer in the parking lot after a failed robbery attempt.
“A scuffle ensued and it is with the deepest and utmost regret that we have to confirm that the owner of the vehicle was shot and fatally wounded,” Massmart said in a statement.
Cloete said employees and security guards were opening the business for the day when they were approached by a man dressed in a security uniform.
They let him in because he was in uniform. He held them at gunpoint and was joined by three other men.
“The suspects demanded cash. When an employee was unable to unlock the safe, he was assaulted,” said Cloete.
Massmart said the shop would not be open for trade on Wednesday.
Trauma counsellors would be available to assist employees and members of the public who were present at the time of the shooting.
“At this stage, our thoughts are with the family of the victim... whom we will provide all assistance as required,” said Massmart. -Sapa

Sunninghill is a suburb of Sandton you clown. What is more important? That this is another senseless murder or that Sunninghill isn't Sandton. Idiot.

Another reason why we need the death penalty back..I will vote for any party that can guarantee that they will reinstate death penalty for murder, armed robbery and aggravated rape. Death by lethal injection or hanging is fine by me!!

@Juan....You're right I am more upset than you are. I don't see what's ironic about it. It is a tragedy that there are so many people in South Africa that despise people based on the colour of their skin. Racists like you make me sick to my stomach, and I wish you would all just leave. You bring race into evry story on IOL...this man has tragically dies, and all you can do is insult the African continent. Really you are pathetic...take a long hard look at yourself.

@'goodbye juan' - I'm just stating that I do not condone violence, but I am also pointing out that some people culturally do not believe that violence is a bad thing. I do not need to leave the country of my birth because my culture does not agree with another's culture of doing things. Judging from your rant, you are more upset than I am. Ironic, isn't it?

Juan, if, as you say, "human life is not considered precious", why don't you start by killing yourself.

Well personally i'll never go back to that shop ... used to but ya. It doesn't solve anything, but we cannot just carry on regardless. Maybe a nationwide strike is overdue. Stay at home until the government says something vaguely intelligent.

I do not know how his family would cope with this image. Its a terrible image for me to stomach, guys please let us be sensitive. To his family, my heartfelt condolences, I hope the killers meet the same fate as that child killer that was housed up the road from the scene of the crime.

I can't believe that Juan says "Stop judging these acts from a Western perspective!" From whose perspective must we judge them then? From Africa's?? Give me a break. Get your head out of the sand buddy and get real!

Is is really correct to show the body of the victim like this? Sorry but it achieves little and surely there should be some compassiion for the family who see this too. Already they have teh trauma of dealing with a death that has occurred in such a violent manner!

Being black, white, yellow or blue is irrelevant! We are all human, and deserve equal rights, no matter what our cultural differences are. We should all be striving to better our country "together"!! Shure there has been a lot of hurt to various races, and there has also been time for healing! This time has come for us to stand united as one nation ( South Africans = Black and White!), and put an end to this mindless crime and madness. Lets do something about it, instead of complaining and moaning!

So this is how our crime rate goes down!!!!!!!!!Bring back the death penalty, and stop making exceuses for this abominable behaviour!

Juan, why don't you just leave if you despise the continent and country you live in, and the people you live with? I cannot think of anything sadder and more stressful than such a situation. Living every minute of every hour of every day, year after year, hating your compatriots, your country and your government. Full of superiority, but also full of bitterness and contempt towards everyone that is not white. Going to bed, knowing you will wake up tomorrow and you will still be in South Africa, 80% of the population will still be black, and no country on earth will take you because you're a poorly educated, bitter, useless, racist pice of white trash....and everyone is actually looking for vibrant, intelligent, compassionate, humble, generous, non-racist people. How sad and pathetic you are. It just makes me sad and despairing for our country that there are so many like you out there.

@Anonymous remove a taxi rank is not going to solve crime. Think about people who have to use those taxi's. Tzxi rank is the safest place unless you are wearing a mini skirt.
