Johannesburg - Two men, aged 27 and 42, suspected of having been involved in the murder of Warrant Officer Michelle Stephenson during a house robbery were arrested in Vanderbijlpark, police said on Monday.

Spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the two were arrested on Sunday night in Vanderbijlpark and were found in possession of a suspected stolen laptop.

“Further investigations are continuing and it is suspected that a third person might have been involved. A manhunt for him is continuing,” Dlamini said.

On Wednesday police launched a manhunt for the suspects who killed Warrant Officer Stephenson, 44, at her house during a house robbery last week.

Her body was discovered on Tuesday when she failed to report for duty. According to investigations, the two men gained entry through a small door and strangled Stephenson with a piece of cloth before her house was ransacked.

“It is not clear how the suspect(s) escaped as the gate and main doors were closed. The victim was alone at the house at the time,” Dlamini said.
