Machado, Mpumalanga - Two men were arrested when they were found in possession of cocaine at the Machado toll plaza on Thursday morning, Mpumalanga police said.

Police had been watching the toll plaza after receiving a tip-off about a taxi transporting drugs from Mozambique, said Colonel Leonard Hlathi.

“The police spotted and stopped the taxi at the plaza with two occupants and pulled it over to search it,” he said.

They found 17 packets of cocaine, worth about R1.93 million on the street, inside the vehicle.

Two Mozambican men, aged 24 and 30, were arrested and would appear in the Belfast Magistrate's Court on Thursday, on charges of dealing in drugs. - Sapa
