Midrand - Two Chinese men have been arrested in possession of R2 million in groceries with fake labels, the Hawks said on Tuesday.
The men offered investigators a R60,000 bribe when they found the groceries and cosmetics - labelled as local brands - in a goods container at a house in Capital Hill, Midrand, at 4pm on Tuesday, said Captain Paul Ramaloko.
“It is understood that the goods were to be distributed in shops around Johannesburg. We believe that they were produced from another country,” he said.
The men, in their early 30s, would appear soon in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on charges of possession of counterfeit goods and bribery. - Sapa
