Hazyview - Two men have been arrested for a string of robberies in Hazyview, and one of them has admitted to rape, Mpumalanga police said on Friday.
On Thursday two chalets at the Kruger Park Lodge were robbed of items including iPads, cellphones, and cash, said Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.
A few hours later a 25-year-old man was arrested in Mariti village, near Hazyview, in possession of some of the stolen goods.
A second man, aged 29, was arrested later on Thursday, also in possession of suspected stolen items.
When questioned, the 29-year-old admitted that he and another man were responsible for the rape of two women at Tatenda Guest House, in Hazyview, on October 7.
Mohlala said the man also told the police that he was part of a gang that committed an armed robbery in 2008.
Mpumalanga police commissioner Lt-Gen Thulani Ntobela welcomed the arrests.
The two would appear in the White River Magistrate's Court on Monday.
