Two Eastern Cape men were arrested on Wednesday after allegedly hijacking a car in Ikwezi Lokusa, Mthatha, police said.

A man was about to leave his house in his Volkswagen Polo when two men held him up at gunpoint, Lt-Col Mzukisi Fatyela said.

Fatyela said they took the car, but were arrested in town after the owner alerted the police.

“They confessed to several crimes, including house breaking and theft, so we are continuing with investigations.”

Fatyela said the men would appear soon in the Mthatha Magistrate's Court. - Sapa
