Johannesburg - Two men were arrested in Zondi, Soweto, for house robbery on Thursday, Gauteng police said.

Spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the robbery happened in Lyttelton, Pretoria, on Thursday.

“They also stole a VW Polo 4 and loaded electrical appliances into the car,” said Makhubela.

“The car was spotted around Soweto with four occupants.”

Police cornered the car but two men managed to escape. The remaining two were arrested. Police recovered a firearm during the arrests.

“The stolen items were not found in the car, suggesting they might have had another car during the robbery,” he said.

The pair would appear in court soon.
