Two held for shopkeeper’s murder

KwaMashu - Two men have been arrested for murdering a tuck-shop owner in KwaMashu, north of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the men, aged 19 and 29, were arrested by the Ntuzuma crime prevention unit on Friday.

He said two knifemen held up tuck-shop owner Thiniza Cele, 47, and demanded cash at her home in M-section, KwaMashu, on January 18,

“She was allegedly stabbed by the suspects and was rushed to hospital for medical attention where she later died,” Mdunge said.

“An undisclosed amount of money, laptop, cellphone and jewellery was taken during the robbery.”

Investigators arrested one of the men in M-section, and the other in Bester, north of Durban, where he was hiding, he said.

They would appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
